Case studies: The Millennium Gloucester Hotel

Following a visit by MK Energy’s engineers Mr Natwar Patel Director of Engineering for the hotel group expressed his concerns on rising fuel costs and increased fuel usage. His main objective being to reduce these costs and at the same time reduce the carbon emissions. However as stated by him customer comfort levels are of prime importance and must remain constant.

MK Engineers conducted a thorough survey and submitted a detailed report outlining their recommendations and proposals, which on the receipt of the hotel management proceeded with the recommendations made by MK Energy. They authorised the installation of the MK Enermatic equipment to manage the boilers in the main plant room.

As part of the installation, trials were conducted to monitor the actual fuel usage with the system in control against the fuel usage when not in control. These trials were conducted for a set period and on completion while taking all factors into account there was an overall fuel saving of over 40%.

Mr Natwar Patel, said “MK Energy installed equipment in our main plant room, without any disruption to the hotel services. The system was then tested over a period of time and achieved savings in gas consumption for heating and hot water of over 40%. During the month of January our occupancy levels were high and we had some very cold periods. However during this month we recorded over 30% savings. MK Energy’s Engineers monitor and inspect the equipment on a regular basis thus ensuring that the equipment is operating at optimim levels. Our group will be financially much better off as a result of this installation and I have no hesitation in recommending the services of
MK Energy and their energy management systems.”
